SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

As a spiritual director, I work with adults who, like me, are over 50 and who identify as spiritual but not religious (SBNR), spiritually independent, or spiritually progressive. By having these traits in common, my directees and I are better able to relate to one another on both a spiritual and personal experience level.

How I work.

I hold open a safe, welcoming, non-judgmental space in which you can share what’s going on for you in your life, discuss any current concerns in the context of your spirituality, and learn how to cultivate greater spiritual consciousness and connection with Spirit.

I listen. I occasionally ask questions in a manner designed to stimulate fruitful new thinking. I can suggest helpful spiritual practices or resources if you wish; but I never tell you what to believe, how to feel, or what to do in any given situation.

That last point bears emphasizing. Spiritual direction is not psychotherapy, counseling, or consulting and is never a substitute for advice rendered by medical, legal, or financial professionals.

To learn more about spiritual direction in general, read my article, “Spiritual Direction Unveiled.”

Where and how often do we meet?

I meet with directees both in my home, in Raleigh, NC, and virtually through FaceTime or Google Meet. How often we meet is up to you. Traditionally, people come for spiritual direction once a month. If you are struggling with a particular issue, however, you may elect to come more often for a while until you are comfortable with less frequent visits.

How much does it cost?

I work on a sliding scale of $50 to $95 per hourly session, payable by check or Zelle transfer, in order to accommodate anyone who sincerely wishes to work with me. The initial consultation is free, of course, and without obligation.

Cancellations.

If you need to cancel a scheduled session, please let me know by phone, email, or text at least 24 hours in advance.
